On Wednesday 12 August from 4pm, the Dijon-Darois platform will welcome the public to observe the partial solar eclipse, 92.2% obscuration at 8:19pm, followed by the Perseids, until 2am.
The Burgundy Astronomical Society is organising the event (SAB); the Côte d'Or Aero Club (ACCO) is providing the site and certain material resources. The Aero Club thanks the Municipality of Darois for its support and logistical assistance.
The event will take place subject to weather conditions and decisions by the relevant authorities.
To bring: red light lamp if possible, jacket, closed shoes, certified observation glasses (possibility to buy glasses at the stand of the Burgundy Astronomical Society).
Meet from 4pm, for an afternoon of activities around the sky. From 4pm, the Aéro-Club de la Côte-d'Or introduces the world of aviation : tours of the facilities, flight simulator and presentation of air navigation tools, subject to availability, exclusively accompanied and subject to the operational requirements of the airfield.
The site's capacity is limited, the SAB will be forced to close access as soon as this maximum capacity is reached. The platform may also be closed without notice for security reasons, particularly related to its operation. Any information regarding attendance and possible closures will be communicated on the ACCO website and the Aéroclub Facebook page. Wednesday, check the attendance status before travelling.
Possible situations:
🟢 Open access: The site is currently open to the public. Access remains subject to available capacity and the operating conditions of the airfield.
🟠 Access not guaranteed (ACCESS UNDER CONSTRAINT): The reception conditions are changing. Access may be restricted, suspended or denied at any moment, due to attendance, the site's maximum capacity or the necessities related to the operation of the airfield. If you are coming from afar, check this page immediately before leaving.
🔴 Access suspended : Public access to the site is temporarily interrupted. Please do not go to the airfield until further information. No indication can be given on the duration of this interruption or on a possible resumption of admissions. Do not wait at the site.
If you are already on your way: do not park on the RD 971 or its verges, do not stop on the hard shoulders and do not attempt to park on agricultural paths. Continue to the next turning area and return by the route taken.
⛔ Access closed : The site no longer welcomes new visitors. This decision may result from reaching maximum capacity or constraints related to the operation of the airfield. No new admissions will take place. Thank you for not going to the airfield.

The eclipse is observable from any clear location towards the west-northwest. It is not necessary to be present on the site to observe it, provided that appropriate eye protection equipment is used in accordance with the applicable standard.

Rules applicable on the site
The Dijon-Darois aerodrome is an operational aeronautical platform. The following are prohibited on the entire site:
- unmanned aircraft (drones), balloons, flying lanterns and any object likely to rise into the air;
- laser beams, high-power projectors and light devices directed towards the sky;
- weapons, fireworks and glass containers;
- fire and smoking outside of designated areas.
Parking is prohibited on the emergency access road, which must remain clear at all times. Access to aeronautical areas is only possible when accompanied and with permission. of the security officer of the Aero Club. Access may be denied to anyone who does not accept these conditions.
