Our history since 1923

1923

Marcel HAEGELEN, Marcel KONRAD and Henri BUSSIERE founded the aeroclub in 1923 at the air base (BA102) of Dijon-Longvic. The aeroclub was initially created as the Dijon section of the Aéroclub de Bourgogne in Chalon-Champforgeuil, operating a single Caudron G3 and then a Henriot 32 registered F-ANHC.

1930

The Dijon section of the Aéroclub de Bourgogne having gained importance, it became autonomous on 22 February 1930 under the name Aéroclub de la Côte d'Or (ACCO). The aeroclub then committed to supporting military aviation by creating a preliminary mechanics school for young people wishing to serve in this specialty.

1934

The aeroclub is embarking on the promotion of aeronautics and has acquired a Caudron 282 Phalène registered F-ANBG for this purpose. The aircraft, named "The White Bird", is sponsored by the Lanvin chocolate factory with the slogan "Lanvin Chocolate, the chocolate of aviators". That year, nearly 1000 trial flights will be carried out.

1936

The construction of the clubhouse is completed and it is inaugurated on 15 November, comfortably welcoming all aviation enthusiasts. The clubhouse will be purchased by the military after the Second World War to establish local aerodrome control.

1937

A women's section of the aeroclub is established, investing in the creation of a medical aviation section. This charitable mission will lead to the arrival of a Caudron 510 Pelican medical aircraft registered F-ANNP, named "Ville de Dijon", on 19 June 1937 ...

1938

Following the creation of popular aviation to facilitate young people's access to piloting and thus provide flight personnel to the air force, the ACCO will be one of the first to create a Popular Aviation Section. Instruction is initially provided on the club's aircraft and then on planes supplied by the state (Hanriot 161, Potez 60, and Caudron Luciole) ...

1939

Following the entry into war, the pilots are mobilised and the 9 aircraft of the flying club are requisitioned as liaison and observation aircraft by the military authorities, the activities of the flying club are consequently suspended ...

1945

The war is over, nothing remains of the 1939 Flying Club, the equipment is destroyed, the Longvic airbase is bombed and the club-house is irretrievable, but a team of pilots is working to resurrect the Flying Club from its ashes, including Pierre and Léon Lauterbach, Henri Bussière, Marcel Konrad and many others with the support of the air force ...

1954

Pierre Robin is hired as chief pilot and is given a free hand by the management committee to reorganise and modernise the fleet. In this context, a first D112 and then a D119 will be built by the members of the flying club, this will also be the very beginning of the Pierre Robin aircraft saga ...

1957

As the coexistence of light aircraft with the new jet fighters of the air force becomes problematic, the flying club moves to DAROIS in 1957 to the site acquired by the Club and discovered by its chief pilot Pierre Robin. The new airfield named Dijon - Val-Suzon (ICAO Code LFGI) is equipped with 2 grass runways, one oriented north-south of 800 metres and one oriented east-west of 500 metres.

1960

The aerodrome is developing, on one hand with the aeroclub which is building the clubhouse, hangars for the planes and gliders, and a restaurant, and on the other hand with the establishment of the company Centre Est Aéronautique Pierre Robin (CEAPR) which will later become the Pierre Robin aircraft company.

1962

The deputy mayor of Dijon, Canon Félix KIR, is the sponsor of the new aircraft acquired by the club from the CEAPR company located in Darois on the other side of the national road, a Jodel DR1050 Ambassador registered F-BKIR.

1987

Thanks to the efforts and determination of the Committee and its President, the Club was able to inaugurate a new 800m hard runway, which was complemented the following year by a grass strip for gliders and vintage aircraft. The aerodrome was then renamed Dijon - Darois (ICAO Code: LFGI).

1998

The Aeroclub began construction of a new clubhouse, during which the club's activities were organised in temporary Algeco-type facilities for 2 years while the old clubhouse was demolished and the new one was built to meet public reception standards, member needs, and student pilot training.

2000

The Aeroclub officially inaugurated its new clubhouse on 16 December 2000. It now has 270 m2 of new and functional premises for pilot training. The sponsor of this ceremony was Mr. Jacques REMLINGER, DFC, a fighter pilot of the Free French Forces in the RAF.

2003

A new activity was launched at the Club at the beginning of 2003: training for the ULM pilot licence. On 27 August 2003, our Club obtained DGAC approval for the training of ULM pilots on a "Skyranger" aircraft registered 21-UE.

2004

The Club continues to develop its microlight activity and has acquired a Dynaero MCR-ULC microlight registered 21-TK for this purpose in September.

2006

To complement the microlight offering, the Côte d'Or Aero Club acquires a TETRAS from Humbert Aviation (equipped with a conventional landing gear) registered 21-ZU.

2008

The latest acquisition in our AIRPLANE range: a Robin DR400-155cdi diesel engine "ECOFLYER" that consumes less energy and is quieter.

2012

Replacement of the MCR microlight with a high-performance aircraft allowing for long-distance travel, an EUROSTAR produced by the Czech company EVEKTOR.

2015

Demolition of the old hangars and construction of two new hangars to house the entire fleet of the Aero Club. Many members were involved in the moving operations before the demolition of the old hangars and the rearrangement of the new hangars after receipt ...

2016

Official inauguration of the new very functional hangars which now house the entire fleet of the Aero Club.

Acquisition of a new Robin DR401-160 F-HFGI travel aircraft equipped with a Garmin 500 EFIS as part of a fleet renovation programme...

2017

Acquisition of a new microlight of the BRM Bristell XL8 type to complete the 3-axis offering with an aircraft that is both high-performance and comfortable.

The aircraft is delivered directly from the Czech Republic by a brand pilot.

2021

Acquisition of a new Robin DR401-120 intended for the flying school and equipped with Garmin G5 and GTN650 as part of the aircraft fleet renovation programme.

2022

Thanks to the efforts and determination of the Committee and the municipality of Darois, the complete refurbishment of the hard runway, taxiways, and parking area was carried out during the month of November. The aircraft were based at Dijon-Longvic to avoid interrupting the club's activities during the works.
